Mayhem Manipulated / Can’t Be
Dirty Blends impresses again here with two more weird and wonderful minimal cuts. William Kincaid’s ‘Can’t Be’ takes care of the a-side and is a brilliantly grubby rhythm made from gurgling bass and ice-cold drum programming that is dialled right back. It snakes and slithers along, growing ever more depraved and dark with unsettling vocal sounds occasionally drifting in. ON the flip is the Lex Lathan track ‘Mayhem Manipulated,’ with its silky drums and snares making for a marching, militant groove and twinkling pads overlaid up top.
